@Brett_CollectsTCG

I listened to Alex's advice and now I drive a Bugatti to my booster box warehouse

@Midnightrave69

I love the James Cameron South Park reference lmaooo

@portalmasterry6765

When people are listening to advice to someone who wears a team rocket costume regarding investing in card board then you know the bar is set so low! lol

@BoldFollower

I don't think it's the actual hobbyists ruining it, it's the people coming in with no love for it, just in it for the bottom line that ruin it. The question for each person is, what is your goal? If it's to have fun, you kinda can't lose-- keep doing what you're doing and enjoy all the great things about it.

But if it's become mixed with your job and personal life, then it's much more complicated than that. We live in a weird world where your personal and professional interests blur and it can be both a blessing and a curse.

@BigPapiNick

I was lucky to get 1 booster box of rivals for $180.

@GliGliStar

I’ll say this. During sun and moon and Covid era I was the end consumer 100%. I would go with my friends every Friday and spend my check on booster boxes and for the moment feel good but inevitably feel low afterwards because I was left broke. I learned over time that with the power of investing in this product and dialing back on the amount of packs and singles I buy I can still enjoy this hobby without breaking the bank. These are times when people make it or break it and learn that you don’t need to consume everything Pokemon prints. Take it a little at a time and you’ll enjoy yourself more.

@zuko7642

Funny how you were one of the very first people to start saying that SV 1-4 might not get reprinted, and people flamed you for it. Now everyday, more of the same people that flamed you are starting to come around to the idea.

@jamieroney3578

I have been in the hobby since 1996 and this is the worst I’ve ever seen it. I have never had trouble finding products at MSRP until now. I have never seen such empty shelves until now. I had to work a little harder for Celebrations and in 1999 but not at any other time. I have at least three of every gold star from pack ripping. Don’t minimize the wisdom of others or their experiences. This is unprecedented and people are literally taking advantage of people both at Pokemon TCG and sellers. I have yet to see Prismatic Evolutions in the wild. For the first time as a 55 year old woman I am playing the game at prerelease events just to order a box.

@fed562

This is a slow and steady grind, I personally dont have the budget for Thousands of products a month, we chilling grabbing a single booster box, 2-4 etbs and handful of bundles a month. And you betcha ill pay $100 for a prismatic etb at my local card show to average in or trade singles towards. Because in 5 years who cares? Thats still hundreds of products by then with sfill 100%+ expected growth.
This isnt a sprint and everyones so caught up trying ro reach a finish line that isnt there, deep breaths

@akirohitan4698

Both you and rocket dude make sense. Long term everything does go up. But when you have limited capital you need to be smart with your money. Buying journey together at $200 is not a good move if you only have $200 a month to spend on Pokemon. Yeah it’ll be $300 in 5 years but was that really a good move? What’s wrong with being smart with your buying power? I mean with a long term mind frame every single thing is a good buy….. great advice.

@trangtrong3967

You're not gonna give a rat's ass if you paid $160 or $200 when the box hits 5 hundo

@theshadowless01

Time in the market will ALWAYS beat timing the market.

Too many are worried about the short-term of everything because of lack of funds and will not be able to sit on products due to cash flow issues in their personal life.

I see unemployed/part-time working adults who run around trying to scaple and flip everything on shelves, not realizing that none of that will change their financial situations long-term.

Slow and steady wins the race.

@NextGenArt01

I’d love to see you get back to actual market content which is why I subbed 3 years ago. I am personally sick of hearing about the Timmy’s who seem to be the subject of every video lately. Is that content behind your patreon paywall now?

@maze-nc1ut

We have been diving deeper and deeper into Idiocracy as a society, the past several years, bro. You could say that Pokémon cards are a part of the dumb, hyper consumption problem. We as collectors and investors are not immune to this.
It’s not just Pokemon is what I’m saying.
The only thing that matters in this world today is profits over people. To the point where it’s now even hurting most of the people participating in the greed and destruction of the planet.

@markhellman-pn3hn

i think the whole world is laughing at us - when a box of cardboard is more important than a box of cereal !!

@govisly

You make more money if you get a 5 hour part time job in Macdonald instead of running around store to store and waiting for a vendor....

@Hinkle3

The problem I have is Pokemon isn’t worth opening a new set at $260 a booster box, if you’re just buying it and keeping it sealed for 10+ years then sure, but you also can’t have an entire hobby based on nobody opening packs lol.

@TheNoobzoid

Alex, I like your content, and I listened to you, all pokemon sealed under MSRP will see gains in 5 years 100% of the time. I only buy when it is MSRP or below. It is a 100% success rate and I continue with this. If I miss a drop, I dont care, I can take that money and invest somewhere else.

There's no reason for cash rich investors to rush into a product so new.

@TomO-f2j

Alex really enjoy your videos and the insights you bring. Have made plays based on some of your discussions. Just wanted to get your thoughts as you say Pokemon is printing at capacity. However, 2024 stats show they printed less than 2023. Do you reckon since they have cranked the printing back up they can contain the current situation with card shortages?
