As a black South African Iโve honestly been enlightened and I would now like to go deeper into the boere cuisine
I like the fact that you're showing the ample diverse richness of South Africa, its people, and its food. Love it Sonny.
You guys are my discovery channel for food, cultures and story telling
Those ribs and that poitjie looked so good I was crying ๐คฃ I love my country so much. I hope you had a great time with them.
I met you in Cape Town, love your friendliness. Thanks for representing SA.
Amazing to see you filming in RSA. And trying our amazing food. Biltong changes lives
As a South African Afrikaner, i can confirm that you had a truly authentic experience. Well done to the hosts. What a great show, awesome to watch your show for years and then seeing you eat my comfort food...
As a proud South African of Boer descent I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. I am very familiar with the Afrikaner foods (braai, potjie, biltong, etc.) as well as the West Coast Cape Coloured delicasies (like crayfish and snoek). But man... I must say that I want to kick myself for not traveling enough up north after the African cuisine! I used to travel a lot for work but due to it being business trips I never had time to go and experience the other foods SA has to offer. After watching this series I just want to get into my car and drive up north to experience this lovely foods for myself! So I know what I'll be doing during my next holiday!! SA is truly probably one of the most amazing countries in the world! We just need to get a grip on unemployment, crime and electricity.
I just have to say that this really is the "best ever food show" when I saw the ads for the South African series as a South African I thought you wouldn't properly grasp the full South African experience and i must say, you deserve a bells for this one๐
Such authentic, down to earth, hospitable people. Iโm happy that Sonny is showing the many different peoples who make up our South African family. ( I hope that he will do Indians next time he visits lol)
This is the beautiful heritage of South Africa. I am a black south african and I'm proud of the diversity we have inherited in spite of an ugly period in our history. With faith, patience and a lot of sacrifice we achieved the unthinkable. Now we all have a shared responsibility to safeguard it from the rogue and foreign tendencies of mercantile shenanigans parading as the saviour of our economy and livelihood. Survival of our shared heritage rests on us learning to invest on our own home grown and share it with the rest of the world.
I'm South African and in my 20s and I only discovered through watching this that I don't really know much on Afrikaner cuisine only knew stuff like braai, potjiekos, biltong (not in depth) and koeksisters. Never attempted to learn. Thank you for enlightening me and I'm loving all the videos you've made on South Africa. Your approach and will to learn and how much love and repsect you've shown. Big ups to you Sonny. God bless!!
Mrs Ball's is an INSTITUTION in South Africa, competing only with Marmite for top spot in South African hearts. All hail Mrs Ball's!

I have hunted Kudu and Springbok on this farm with Herman. He is a man of nature and a true Afrikaner. Proud to have met him and have stayed on his farm.
Yo! South Africa, we eat a lot of meat, I never actually think about it ๐.
Grandma made potjiekos like this every Sunday, delicious and healthy. Don't forget our legendary "Ouma Beskuit (Grandma's Rusks) a traditional South African snack that is dipped in coffee. Thanks guys, for this fantastic show! Lots of love from South Africa.
