I am Maori from New Zealand. Cant thank you enough for your insightful videos and your profound research skills.

If you have ever watched the children's movie "Moana" on Disney, we have a demigod called Maui who is a trickster. One story I remember is the one how Maui wanted to know the source of fire. So whilst everyone was sleeping he blew out all of the fires in the village. The villagers awoke the next day and were all fearful yelling aloud to each other "How are we gonna eat?" "How are we gonna keep warm in the night?" etc. Maui was told to go see his aunty, an ancestress named Mahuika who lived in a cave, to get fire. Mahuika gives maui one of her fingernails that were made of flames to take back to the village. Maui comes and goes several times from the cave to the river playing tricks with his aunty and extinguishing her flames in the nearby water with curiosity. Mahuika, realising she's being taken for a fool unleashes her fiery wrath on Maui, who then transforms into a hawk to escape the engulfment of her flames within the cave. She chases him as he flies outside and she throws her last flame at Maui, which misses and sparks into our native trees. The trees, having their own Mauri (lifeforce/chi etc) kept her flame as a gift to them from the Goddess of Fire. Maui calls to Tawhirimatea the god of wind for aid and Mahuika feeling weak from losing all her fingernails/toenails of fire and goes back to her dwelling to recover. Maui transforms from hawk to demigod and takes the dry wood from the Kaikomako tree back to the village and teaches the villagers how to make fire from rubbing sticks together & that is the story of how Maui-tikitiki-a-taranga found the origins of fire and brought fire to te ao, to my people.

True Alchemy does not consist in the spectacular transmutation of base metals into gold, but in the spiritual transmutation of man's own matter. Grains of sand are transformed into pearls; summer sees twisted, blackened vine-stocks burst into leaf and bow beneath the weight of their grapes; caterpillars are metamorphosed into butterflies; galvanoplasty transforms a drab piece of base metal into a golden ornament... All these different ways of transforming things are familiar to us but we have never studied them sufficiently closely to realize that they contain the secret of our own inner metamorphosis. If a tree, for instance, is capable of transforming the raw mineral nutrients it draws from the soil into the sugarsap which enables it to produce flowers and fruits, why should man not do likewise ? Why should we not be capable of transforming the raw juices of our instincts and passions so that they produce a rich harvest of flowers and fruit, in the form of vitality in our physical bodies, love and joy in our hearts and understanding and wisdom in our minds?

These things I know in my heart are said to be untrue by those that control our world, they lie for their own benefit, but they have never fooled me. Your words and works are of truth Robert.

I am a very simple person. . I'm just sitting over here trying to imagine which SONG you will intro to open this topic. I'm pretty excited. You've been slayin' the uke like you are not even an "enthusiast" anymore. I cheered when you did Sultans of Swing. (& it flexed right in to your lecture topic...I was like, 'Slick got BIG game now! He's bringin' THE absolute MOST!! Lols!) I was out running & I HAD to stop..(I never STOP when I run. ). I know it wasn't the intellectual point of the lecture but, I cheered! I was like, my guy just SLAYED that mess! .. You're always getting better at things... It's the best! (Unsolicited info: my dad is passed & we had a LIFE-LONG debate on which Dire Straits song was the best. He was "Money For Nothing" & I was "Sultans of Swing." It raged, over fire pits, car rides, & beers for years! Tmi. But, thanks for that.)

@stephanogp

Robert, I feel like you're my new best friend! I love your ideas, I love your Ukelele, and I love your well researched perspective and interpretations of the many syncronisticly aligned subjects that I have been drawn to study and teach myself. You and the works you have put out on this channel are a true serendipity in my life as I am currently compiling my written manifesto(and in the process of transmuting to video format). It's a visual, lyrical, geometric, musical poem about the true strong force known as LOVE...an alchemical, romantic Ode to Æther, if you will. And this episode aligns so harmoniously with what I was thinking and literally in the midst of writing, it feels like you made it just for me! it blows my mind how entangled two people, seemingly strangers can be. How we can teach and learn, inspire and fall in Love with each other's minds, all without ever having met. Thank you for meeting me on this path and for the breadcrumbs and keys you left along the way for those of us coming up just behind you! Your wisdom us a true gift to me right now, you'll never know how much you've helped!💋
