A legend doesn't die when his heart stops beating he dies when he is forgotten.
I got into playing TF2 just after Rick May passed, and I got to see the whole month of tributes and mourning in the fullest. That was really heart-wrenching.
New ost, statues, only soldier appearing on the title screen. This, tells me valve still cares just a bit. They could’ve given us a stupid community created hat or a 1 sentence tweet, but they didn’t. R.I.P. Rick May.
Truly a legend nobody will ever forget..
As much shit we throw at valve (most of the times deserved) they are not a bad company (at least compared to the rest of the gaming industry) they care about their games and community, and before anyone says "if they care then why dont they update", i want you to realize that they have been supporting the game for 10+ years, they deserve a break, most multiplayer fps games dont even make into 5 years before being replaced, and if they do, they usually end up with empty servers. I want you to realize that valve actually cares if someone dies, especially someone from one of their most succesfull games, they know how much we like tf2 and its voice actors... They know
"You were good son, real good. Maybe even the best" -Rick may/soldier
they came out of nowhere to make statues on every map as well as program those statues to repeat voice lines, as well as they composed an entirely original piece of music for him, truly something special.
I really only expected a tweet from the old abandoned tf2 twitter, but this? Is beautiful
Most dev's would've just tweeted a sentence. Valve updated the game for the first time in 2 years. Valve still cares...
2 years later, will never forget… rip Rick may, we all miss you :(
Rest in peace greatest soldier ever
the saluting soldier thou... really brought a tear to my eye.
Good news...WE WILL LIVE FOREVER -Rick May as soilder
He wasn’t good he wasn’t the best rick May was a legend and better than all the rest May he rest in peace
His spirit will rocket jump forever.
im glad that i was playing the game, when The Tribute "event" was still here.
R.I.P Real sad I found out about tf2 after he died what a true soldier
"Old Soldiers don't die they just fade away." - General Douglas MacArthur
After hearing Rick May passed, I just couldn't stop watching things about Soldier. Seeing that they added this little thing into the game, the song, the salute... It's just heartwarming and heart wrenching at the same time. RIP Rick May, may he rocket jump high and market garden in the skies. "You we're good son, real good; maybe even the best"
