Thank you this is very useful! My potatoes are growing flowers and I didn't know if I had to leave them or not. Keep up the good work!
I grow potatoes every year never heard of pruning but I will sure do it this year thanks a lot for the tip❤
I had never encountered the concept of pruning potatoes until this year, and then I only heard to take the flowers off. Now I see this video, and it makes sense too. My second-crop potatoes are coming up now, and I'm going to try this! Thank you!
This is the first time I’ve come across the mention of prying the leaves off. I have been just covering them up with more soil! Thank you!!! Of course I should prune them off
This is the best video on the subjunctive. Thank you!
I cut my top foliage in half this year and they thickened up and an abundance of potatoes under each thick bush😊 good experiment to try
Love pepper… he’s adorable ❤
I have 10 acres and my garden is in the ground and my First crop was planted in February, live in Southern Illinois USA. Our winter’s have changed but even if it has frozen I still plant them, when it’s getting warmer and the green tops appear. I top them out about 3 times, using bone meal and grey lime a couple of times for fertilizer. I just cut the tops off to about 6 inches and after the 3rd time I let them grow. But still trim off some leaves. Same as I do my tomatoes and vine crops.
Very helpful it's my first time planting potatoes thank you.
I didn’t know to do this! Awesome. Thanks 😀
Ive never heard of pruning potato plants, but i went out this morning and pruned the bottom leaves. I hope it gives me a good yield come harvest time! Thanks for the tip!
Great tips for a first time gardners I really appreciate your work!!
I just pruned my Kennebec potatoes after seeng this, a 44 foot row. Man are they nice now and you can see light at the base and the air flow is superb. All of those leaves were in danger of getting soil born bacteria and didn't get any light to be productive anyway. This is a great tip and something that never would have crossed my mind. Thanks for the advice, I know it will be very beneficial. I bet it helps keep slugs at bay too since it's not dark and overly moist. Plus now I can scatter the "Slug Bait" Iron phosphate granules to do them in. 👍🏻
This video was extremely helpful! I've been growing vegetables in grow bags for over 10 years but, this year is my first year growing 'white' potatoes. I appreciate you explaining how to prune the leaves.
Pepper is so cute!! I love that!❤
I pruned my potatoes after watching this. Thank you
