There is no way I was going to list every single setting you can change in Resolve (have you seen how long the instruction manual is?!?!) but this is a quick run-through of things I always think about every time I install on a new machine, as well as a bit of moaning at the engineers for weird things they have done.

I know I'll have missed some great tips, so make sure you share with everyone either things you change to make Resolve work better for you, or silly things you wish they would fix!

Oh wow I didn't know about the teleprompter and the dynamic zoom in the Cut page. That's amazing.

Speaking of maximizing screen real estate.

- LUT window as list view instead of thumbnails

@MrJemabaris

Let's not forget to change the LUT interpolation to tetrahedral and saving it as a default. I also like to enable power window outline on GUI monitor only. In the project settings I usually disable use S-cruve for contrast as I use some form of film emulation which already has an S-shaped contrast curve. Another thing I always turn on are the "show 2x zoom" and "show skin tone indicator" options in the vector scope settings. In the system preferences I like to enable "Automatically refresh growing files in the media pool" and under the General options "Use 10-bit precision in viewers if available". Under the Playback settings I usually set Performance mode to manual or disable as having it on automatic can introduce glitches and artefacts with very heavy sessions. Lastly, I like to enable 3 Node Stack Layers for IDT, Grade, and ODT under the General Options in the project settings.
