I honestly want to like the English versions more because it's what I grew up on but the Japanese cards are just so clean. I love the holo border and the vibrantness of the Japanese cards

It's disappointing that the English cards don't have the same borders as the Japanese. The shiny borders create a unique card which could justify the price. It doesn't seem as high quality without it

Magic 30 should've been like this. The decks, the layout, everything. $400 for something really, really cool as opposed to $1K for a few packs of sadness.

I love both! The yellow borders are so nice! But those holo borders on the Japanese cards hit different. And the difference in how vibrant the English and Japanese cards is insane!

I think the sparkly borders on the Japanese version give them a little extra touch, but the English cards still look amazing. Thanks for opening this and sharing with us, it's super cool!

Japanese colours are much more vibrant but having the yellow borders gives it that nostalgia and I definitely prefer that. Voltorb was an amazing card too!

I really like both English and Japanese, I don't mind that English doesn't have the holo borders because it actually makes it look more old school for me

I prefer the regular yellow borders. I remember as a kid wanting to get certain commons/uncommons in holo like Charmander (I didn't understand only rares got holo 😅) so this just slaps. Fulfills that desire from 20+ years ago!

Very cool to see these beautiful artworks! But you can see the Japanese big 3 the Pokémon are a bit more “zoomed in” than the English side by side. Preference for me are those sparkly Japanese borders, the feel is a bit more classy and upscale than the English version.

From the standpoint of nostalgia as an American consumer, I don’t mind the yellow borders because it’s closer to the way they were originally printed in english

I personally love the original borders! Also liked that they didn't put the base starters on the front- less likely to have damage. The contrast between the colors is just like the original base set unlimited english vs japanese base set. Love it.
