"Doesn't have to be rare, just has to be good." - The perfect philosophy.
These 2 should have their own blog or radio show comparing their vinyl and playing random tracks.Would be cool and educational.
Dude collecting Cluctch and Black Stone Cherry - hats off to you, sir
I'm 71 and went through my various favourites over the decades just as this gentleman has,and probably loved the same bands he does, and I also love contemporary bands,Meshuggah,Gatecreeper,Black Dahlia Murder,in fact any of the bands in the Death Metal genre but probably my all time favourite band is Cannibal Corpse who I still go to watch live when they tour the UK or Europe.I ain't dead yet kids!!
A great collection! And the guy in the video had the opportunity to build up his collection at a time when you could pick up things cheap. Nowadays the internet has made stores much more savvy about prices meaning that there generally aren't the hidden gems waiting to be uncovered anymore. You can get lucky once in a while but overall the golden age of record shopping is long gone.
Wow! Compared to my collection...or any other collection I've seen...this is a massive one! I hope Steve lives to be 100 and keeps on digging up those gems!!
Top top video😊 I love the attitude towards collecting that it doesn’t have to be rare, just what you like 👍
I’m off to see my parents in a few weeks in Essex next week. Will be stopping by revolver records! Never been but looks good. My poor credit card
What an amazing collection! Steve is in the envious position of being there when these albums were released. I can only dream of a collection like this. Thank you for sharing it with us.
In the early 2000s, rare records released in the 60s and 70s were sold on eBay in an auction format. However, recently, they have only been sold for a fixed price. This is probably because information about the value of rare records is now available to anyone, so if you auction them off, you can only get a lower price than that.
He seems like a very nice and calm person... Please, don't stack the (vertigo) vinyls like that. Great video.
I would have thought I had died and gone to heaven with all those gems. Wow and wow again!!!!
Wow ! Absolutely fantastic collection ! Thank you Jake & Steve . Really enjoyed every second of this 😎👌
Wow, Stephens Collection is fantastic, Jake, your collection is also brilliant. 🤩
My best recent record "find" has been coming across your YouTube channel! It's been fantastic fun and incredibly informative watching and learning about these record collectors/aficionados and their collections and wealth of knowledge. Simply PRICELESS!!!
Obviously a nice guy and always cool to hear from the guys of an age who've been doing it since day one. I know a few similar type chaps and love hearing their stories of getting 'insert rarity' for 50p back in the day. Steven wasn't looking for or collecting rare records back in the day. He was looking for records he'd never seen before and taking a punt on them. It just transpires those records are now collectable and musically great in a lot of cases. Jake, you need to check out Mighty Baby, especially their 1st lp....killer record. Please buy the book Galactic Ramble and learn about the UK psych, prog, rock, folk rarities. Cheers Nige
What a lovely knowledgeable and generous man, great to hear observations and experiences from people of this generation.
Never been prouder to be UK record collector after seeing this. What a great man. Might have to up sticks and move to Southend myself. 😍
Ken from Tasmania here, surprised to see no Buffalo albums in the collection. 70s Aussie rock albums like Dead Forever, Volcanic Rock etc
