@RCRetro

Great video my friend. I really appreciate you taking the time to show us and explain why these are your top 5 as well as dropping some background info about yourself. Very well done. Keep up the great work. Loving your channel.

@BlackSeaRC

I can absolutely appreciate how much time and effort has been put into producing 400 videos. I know it is our hobby and passion but I hope it is producing some worthwhile financial rewards as well! For me, it is hard to pick a top 5 when there have been so many iconic Tamiya vehicles released over the last almost 50 years. I was thinking about what my choices would be and came up with a big list of possible options but just couldn't narrow it down to five. I suppose if I had to own just one Tamiya RC vehicle, I would select the Rough Rider, a perfect combination of scale realism, great engineering, vintage nostalgia and performance you can enjoy.

@MarkBryanRC

Hi there Fil! Great content today as ever, I got through 2 cups of coffee watching this one, very entertaining and interesting all the way through! It's really difficult to pick a top 3 or 5 favourite Tamiyas, I think my choice generally depends on the mood I'm in on a particular day! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… But thinking carefully today, it really comes down to the cars that got me into the hobby, first the Monster Beetle back in '86 and then the car that started my love of RC rally cars, the Ford Cosworth Escort Tiger Stripe on the TA01 chassis. The third choice is the wonderfully upgradeable Neo Scorcher TT02 that rekindled my Tamiya obsession when I got back into the hobby after a long break! Congrats on the success of your channel, you deserve it brother! Here's to the next 400! Cheers! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

@metroshifter

Thanks for a great Channel.. Im also one of those that has a nostalgic weak spot for Tamiya vintage.. Got my Monster Beetle on my 10th birthday around 87.. Still have it. I must say some things important to the looks of the rere's. Please don't skip the fine primer and red TS paint on the Monster Beetle just because the bodies nowadays comes in red plastic in the kits. (They used to be bone white) . The red in the new ones is not right and it's flat and it has too much opacity when exposed to sunlight. Owners of Monster Beetle and Black Foot,. Don't be lazy.. paint and prime your cars in correct colors.. it makes such a difference!!

I'm in Australia and middle aged now in my mid 50's and I grew up in the 1970'sand 1980's and 1990's. Yeh I remember Tamiya being really expensive back in the 1980's. My family are of Italian ancestry and worked hard all their lives and really struggled financially but my Mum put some money together and brought me a Tamiya Fox as my birthday present when I was 13 or 14. It was a lot of money for " a toy car" . Back around 1986 the Fox was available as a bundle including Radio and battery and charger for $500.00 Australian dollars. That was more than my Mum earned per week working as a secretary and bank teller. I still own the original vintage 1985-1986 Tamiya Fox man to me as a youngster it certainly was really special. Very nice and man it was fast too. I owe my Mum a lot for all the sacrifices she made raising 3 kids. She is awesome.thanks for putting this great video together ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ

@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC

Excellent video Fil.....and totally relatable in every way,i could not have put it better myself!
So then,my own top 5 Tamiyas:
1: Midnight Pumpkin (my very first hobby grade that i still have to this day,and would never sell!) Got two of these bad boys!
2: Avante (Most gorgeous buggy ever made,and a truly mind boggling piece of (over) engineering!) Got three of these puppies- a runner,a new in box,and one on display on the wall!
3:Porsche 959 (such a clever and quirky design,with an extremely realistic driving experience... and of course the nostalgia of the tremendous days of the eighties group B rally days)
Got three of these gems as well!๐Ÿ˜Š
4: Monster Beetle (such a fun car with so much noatalgia!)
Got three of these to.....god,i think I've got a problem!๐Ÿ˜ฎ
5:Clod Buster (HUGE,iconic,fun to run,heaps of upgrade potential,and fond memories of the crazy eighties Monster truck scene!)
Only got two of these,my custom clod,and a new in box ready to be built.
I recently started a show and tell series on our channel,showing the cars and the stories behind them.
Done the monster trucks and buggies so far,road and rally episode coming soon dude!
Quite funny how similar your rc roots are to mine.....and I'm guessing most of us eighties kids for that matter!
Congratulations on the 400 vids and huge sub count,going from strength to strength bro!

@bradbattaglia7572

#1 is the Blackfoot โ€ฆ my first R/C and my dad built it up while I assisted. He passed a few years back so I think Iโ€™ll pick up another Blackfoot to honor him soon. Other tops are from my current collection โ€ฆ Hotshot, Heavy Dump Truck, Kong Head, M07 and Super Avante โ€ฆ that oneโ€™s still to be built. Other honorable mentions are the p34 Tyrell 6 wheeler and the TT01e Euro Truck. Great fun to build Tamiya kits. Thanks for your channel. Love it!

@timallen6035

My absolute favorite Tamiya kit, and the only one that I have actually owned, is the original Hornet. I bought the kit and built it back in 1986 while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, while I was in the Navy. It sat for many years without a radio. It was such a cool buggy, bump steer, and all.
I dreamed of getting something like a Frog or a Clod Buster, but I never got one.

@matthewhendrickson4209

I just found my original Tamiya Fire Dragon that my uncle built in the late 80โ€™s for me

Never been wrenched on and only missing 1 screw!

Canโ€™t imagine many in existenceโ€ฆstill have the original box!

@clean1566

I think a lot of us can relate to your past. We immigrated to US in 1957, and I was just drooling over those Sears catalog cars. Retired now, got a bunch of RCโ€™s, and finally ordering my first Tamiya kit. Built Tamiya models back then. Love the channel. Keep up the good content!

@guymarotta2596

Super Sabre will always be my favorite Tamiya kit.

@stephanelecreux6840

I started back then with a Thunder Shot, which took heavy abuse in the form of a 14x2 motor. Then RC's been an on and off hobby to me, with a TL-01 Calsonic Skyline during the Noughties, a bunch of Dark Impact, one of them having almost all gears stripped by a crazy 6T Delta wound brushless. And now, last week, in my early fifties, I went to buy the Avante !

@theoagrc

Great video today Fil! Thanks for the shout out brother ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป Love seeing the Terra Scorcher getting some love pal ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

@JustforFun-xh6ld

Nicely done 400th, and congratulations ๐Ÿป Love the nod to Matteo too, what a legend.
Never would have seen the Terra Scorcher as No5, I have a re-re as it came up cheap on eBay but I just couldnโ€™t bring myself to like the looks (apologies to those who love it just a personal opinion) so it now wears a Sand Scorcher body with Kyosho Turbo Scorpion rear wheels all round which makes it more to my taste & goes well at the beach ๐Ÿ˜„
SRBโ€™s are my top pick for classic Tamiya goodness whether itโ€™s the Fighting Buggy, Sand Scorcher or Buggy Champ, then an M-08 set at 210mm wheel base + itโ€™s Phat Bodies Mini on it followed by a XV-02RS Subaru.

@jdsrcs8061

My all time favorite is The Fox. It was my first hobby grade RC. I got it for Christmas and I spent break building it with my dad. As far as other favorites I would say The Boomerang, Hot Shot 2, and The Frog. ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿค˜

@FastFreddyRC

Congrats on the Milestone! Awesome indeed! Interesting top 5...I'd actually have to think about this a lot but the Blackfoot would be in there for me as well as the Falcon...and you're right it's all about the memories so these have to make the list!

@stevedenton7986

My first true rc car was Tamiya "The Hornet" when I was 12 years old. It had a mechanical speed controller but still the best Christmas present I ever received. I'm 53 now, but I remember that thing like it was yesterday. LOVED IT!!!

@akaduy255

1. The Frog . Landed my first job as a paperboy and saved for months. This car taught me how to fix and drive rc cars.
2. Wild Willy. This was a rare car to see in the 80's almost everyone had a buggy. This car was surrounded in a mysterious aura for me.
3. Sand Scorcher. The car that got me into RC. The much older and cooler kids had these. I remember wanting one for years.

@MauzyrockRC

Hey dude congrats on all the hard work you put into this channel and hobby! Inspiring to say the least. As for my top three Tamiyas, well, Ever since my first RC, many many moons ago, where it could barely get over the transition between parkay hardwood and shag carpet ( disappointment ) I had given up on RC, and then followed many other paths to distraction. Rolling up to 2019, a few major life changes later, I sought out RC as a healthier option to what I was occupying my time with before. Then I found Tamiya! So my top three are The XV-02 pro Rally chassis, the BBX ( pinnacle of function and beauty) and the Lunch box. My collection is not huge, but I love the building and running and I really enjoy the community surrounding it!
Cheers

@Jokerw-q7n

Iโ€™m a millennial with 13 years of hobby experience. I completely understand how Tamiya RC shocked and impressed you when you were a kid, but you cannot afford it. I'm a Tamiya fan as well. Iโ€™ve been to EliminatorRC several times and found the price of RC in Canada especially Tamiya is 30% more expensive than in my home country after tax, so it could cost a fortune for you to keep going with this channel. Thank you for bringing so many excellent RCs for us!
