The Basilique St Michel Archange de Menton is one of the most beautifully built churches I've seen. Started by Peince Honore II of Ventimiglia in 1619, it was completed in 1653. Various works have been added right up to 1819.

It stands practically on top the heart of Menton, France, just a few miles from Ventimiglia in Italy. Its architecture is Genovese in style. The steps leading up to the Basilica are an icon of Menton and the view from there is breathtaking.

As you can see from the video, the rich design and decoration is wondrous and gives it such great peace and calm.

Must see place if you're in the area! It's only 35 minutes from Nice and 15 minutes from Monaco Monte Carlo by train.
