I’ve taught drawing for more than 20 years to students who go on to become illustrators, painters, fashion designers, architects and more. Beyond drawing, the one skill these students want to learn more than any other, is how to be creative.
Something creative is something surprising, something unorthodox, something that that hasn’t been seen before.

Creativity is one of the most essential skills in a wide range of fields from art and design to the tech industry. Creativity is also one of the most misunderstood and overlooked skills in education.
In this course, you’l learn the most effective , research based changes you can make in your life to become more creative.
If you’ve taken any of my drawing courses, you should know that this is a very different kind of course. Creativity is not just skill, it’s a mindset.
In each lesson of this course you’ll be introduced to an essential creative concept. At the end of each lesson you’ll be asked to do a project. There are two kinds of projects in this course: art projects, where you’ll get to draw, explore meaning and seek creative connections between things through collage, and guided journal projects where you’ll write about your life and your thoughts in order to get past your creative blocks and design your creative future.
You don’t need any art experience or any other special skills to participate in this course. This course is open to anyone, even if you’re completely new to art or creativity.
So why learn creativity from me?
I’ve used creative thinking to build a meaningful fine arts career as well as a thriving business. I’ve studied traditional art making like drawing and figure drawing and anatomical drawing. I’ve also studied more experimental forms of art making. My work has been exhibited in galleries and museums.
I’ve also applied my creative skills to create The Art & Science of Drawing series, an award winning online drawing program that has taught more than 500,000 students how to draw in more than 180 countries.
Creativity is essential for both art and design, as well as technological innovations. Whether you want to be more creative in your art, your career, or your personal life, this course will teach you the tools and mindsets necessary to become more creative.
In this course you’ll learn how to seek a deeper sense of meaning in everyday objects and experiences
You’ll learn what thoughts and habits stand in the way of being creative and learn how to move past them.
You’ll learn how to use divergent thinking, and avoid convergent thinking, in order to find creative solutions to problems.
You’ll learn how to make changes in your life that will promote creative thinking.
You’ll learn a creative process you can apply to nearly any situation.
